Saturday 9 January
What a
gorgeous day Hobart put on for us. Clear blue skies and warm! We left the ship
and walked to Salamanca Place. It being Saturday the place was buzzing with the
markets! However, we were heading for Battery Point. I had found a self guided
walking tour which we followed, stopping half way at a great little local cafe
for coffee. By the time we had finished our daughter phoned to say they were just
parking the car.
It had been
a surprise for all of us to find out that we all would be visiting the city on
holidays on the same day! Nick had sourced a pub for lunch, so after wandering
the markets, we headed for Jack Greene. Great spot.
Back at the
ship we spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing.
 |
| We will return to Salamanca Place later |
 |
| But for now we are headed up to Battery Point |
 |
| Well known for the lovely colonial buildings |
 |
| Battery Point is full of history |
 |
| This stone colonial building is now a museum |
 |
| Beautiful views of the Derwent are now being built out |
 |
| Our ship |
 |
| Even the local businesses are welcoming the ship! Well why wouldn't they? Hobart is so accessible and lots to see and do from a cruise ship |
