Saturday 16 January
A day at sea can be as busy or lazy as you
make it. Ian went off walking the deck and to a space lecture on the Mars landing
and I decided I would journalise the ship in pictures.
So here we have Celebrity Solstice:
Promoting the specialty restaurants
Lots of lovely art around the ship on the stair wells
Looking down towards the card room. Our cabin was close by
One of many comfortable lounge areas
The stairway up from Guest Services
Solarium
Entrance from outside deck to buffet
Inside entrance
Breakfast cleared away .....
But still plenty on offer for late comers
All concentrated at one servery
Outside the buffet is the bar
Upstairs is another bar, both aft
On either side returning to the bow there is the lawn club
Help yourself to towels and blankets
Petanque and other games can be played on this living lawn
Returning to the walking track deck
You never know who you will see!
Looking down on the pool deck
And around again .....
Forward and up is the Solstice Deck
A lovely quiet space
Maintenance is in constant progress
Looking down on the helipad
Back on the starboard side
And returning to the walking track
Inside to the Sky Lounge where we would have drinks every evening
A comfortable space
Plenty of directional signage at liftwells
Including a diagram of the ship and details of what's on which deck
On two levels the theatre doubles as an activity venue during the day as well as entertainment in the evening
The coffee shop on board is very comfortable
On the port side is Bistro on Five (easy to remember it is on Deck 5!)
For a $10 cover charge you can have anything on the menu. We had a very good lunch there when we boarded. Not as crowded as the buffet
Then there are the many bars - here you can learn the art of making cocktails
You can learn all about wine .....
in a comfortable venue
Perhaps you love your drinks ice cold. The Martini Bar is the answer with its frozen bar to put your drink on
A small but favourite bar on the Guest Services level
The specialty restaurants are secreted away at the stern of the ship
A fairytale entrance
I should not forget the main dining room
And the restaurant for exclusive use by those booked in Aqua class
The casino is very big
Shops are on two levels
High end brands upstairs
A self serve photos kiosk for those ship board memories taken by ship's photographers
Lots of tempting items are located near the lifts
As on most ships, Shore Excursions and Guest Services are located on the same deck across from one another
As it was Jen's birthday, we celebrated with a meal at Chef's Table
I chose a main of lobster tail which was cooked tableside
Absolutely delicious
Ian had the salmon
For dessert, couldn't pass up the crepes
Delish
After a busy day we are happy to retire to our comfortable stateroom
So that's a comprehensive tour of this beautiful ship which I can recommend
